Screw money, screw career goals - health is the only thing that matters
6 months ago, I started having back pain. Nothing major at first, just a dull ache. I ignored it, like we all do, thinking it would go away. It didn’t. It got worse. Sitting hurt, standing hurt, even lying down wasn’t a relief anymore.
Finally ended up having to get a surgery 2 weeks back, got discharged last week. The damage was too far gone for anything else to work. Now I’m recovering, and honestly it’s brutal. Every small movement reminds me how much I took my body for granted.
Everyone here is talking about CTC, FIRE, total compensation - fuck that shit, none of these matter if you aren't able to live a functional life. If you’re healthy right now, don’t waste it. Don’t ignore the signs your body gives you. Pain isn’t something to tough out or dismiss.
I’d give up everything: money, career, all of it - just to go back and take better care of myself before it got this bad. Take care of yourselves please.

Job stress, working late became so much that I developed Bell's palsy on the right side of my face. While they say there's no cure, I'm holding onto my faith and praying for complete healing. I believe in God's power to restore me. I've seen some improvement, which gives me hope, and I continue to pray for full recovery..... try God bro 😇

I need higher ctc😕 even i go through with 4 surgeries...if i have money my family cannot suffer .. without money whole family suffers

You think it's ok 2 months bed-ridden for good pay. Honestly you never get to control where you end up, just like the author of this post never had& most of us won't. It's possible you may end up worse than what you can afford.
If you can over push yourself while being perfectly healthy, good for you, keep going! But always lend an ear to your body& mind at all times.
Cheers!

If you're healthy you'll be able to build sufficient wealth over the decades.
But if you sacrifice yourself for enormous money in a few years, your whole family....

Don’t blame work or career for your unhealthy habits. I’m not bashing you. Tip
- Sit properly
- Move for 15 mins in 2 hours.
- Invest in better equipment
- Eat healthy
- Do workout regularly

That's one of the reason I left from my previous organisation early morning 4am shift ruined my sleep cycle with occasional on call support in late nights and connect morning by 4am. Used sleep pills for couple of months due to which gained lot of weight and simultaneously no growth in pay despite getting promoted twice in six years. Now second shift feel like heaven for me. And ignored another high ctc job because of night shift but never felt bad for missing it.

Absolutely true. Not just physical pain but even heart issues are flaring up these days due to constant work pressure. I have a friend who has been taking tablets for heart palpitations that he has every time he has meetings with his bosses (everyday). Another friend has regular high bp and takes tablets everyday for bp control. Both are workaholics. What you have described in the last sentence, I feel it every time someone posts about achieving a gazillion dollar salary and net worth. Health is now. Health is something that we have been taking for granted far too long.

Sure buddy
More power to you 💪

Same with me, having light heart pain have been ignoring for the past one month thinking it would go away, but it has increased only going for the medical checkup today even though the manager asked no one to take leave

Manager won't even find time to attend the funeral so don't be so meek and weak

But but it was not really CTC, FIRE, total compensation or anything else that caused the issue here. It was your mere ignorance, your lack of health maintenance, your poor unhealthy decisions that put you in this situation. Why blame the wrong things ? 🤔
I know people who are pushing for FIRE, yet they make sure to follow a healthy lifestyle with mandatory monthly health check-ups, workout out everyday, spending quality time with family and friends and living that gadget free time.
Maybe you did not realise that you should maintain a healthy lifestyle. From your title, as a founder, it looks like you have burnt yourself like it's always expected of a founder 🙂
I hope the realisation has happened and rather than blaming on false things, feel ashamed of yourself for not prioritizing yourself as the highest and for not taking care of yourself. Learn from your mistakes and move on rather than being a long term crybaby about it. Good luck 🙂.
AFAIK I said people here only talk about FIRE, CTC - they need to talk about health also.
The point being it means nothing if we don’t have a functional life.
